Why Do Colors Vary Between Your Screen and the Final Product?

It’s a question we hear regularly in the world of corporate apparel and promotional items. Whether it’s a t-shirt, a cap, a mug, or another custom product, clients sometimes notice a difference between the colors they saw on their screen and those of the product they receive.

Before concluding that it’s an error, it’s important to understand that colors are influenced by several factors. From the screen on which you view your logo to the printing process used to reproduce it, each step can have an impact on the final result.

Every Screen Displays Colors Differently

Today, we view our files on smartphones, tablets, laptops, and desktop monitors of all qualities. Each device has its own characteristics and settings; even two screens of the same model can display a different result.

Brightness, contrast, color saturation, and even the age of the screen can alter the appearance of an image. A logo displayed on a recent phone may look much more vibrant than when displayed on an older computer.
